This week in Maths Purple, Orange and Green have been looking at skip counting, doubles and halves and how it links to money.
We played lots of games to help us remember doubles facts-Doubles Snap and Doubles Bingo. These games can be easily played at home using playing cards.
For the last two weeks, it has been fun working with different teachers and different learning partners.
In 1/ 2 Purple this week we have been working on organising a collection of objects so we can count them easier. We discussed the links with skip counting. We also used this knowledge to help us when we are counting money. Counting 10 cent pieces is easy when you know how to skip count by 10s! In our books we made rubbings of 10 cent pieces to investigate how many coins we would need to make a given amount. Some of us even thought about earning money when doing jobs for Mum and Dad as well as making our own menus. We added up different money amounts to find the total.
At the end of each lesson, we usually share our learning with a partner. It is important to do this so we can check learning and understanding.
Lastly, during warm-up activities, 1/ 2 Purple have been making 2, 3 and 4-digit numbers for our partner to read. We have been working really hard!
Keep up the great work, everyone!
In Maths, 1/2 Red, Yellow and Blue have been investigating 2D and 3D shapes. We have been drawing, making, classifying and describing the features of different shapes. We have also been identifying shapes in our environment and looking at symmetry. Here are some photos of our shape work.
